Lakhs of devotees across Bihar gathered at the banks of rivers and ponds early Tuesday morning (October 28, 2025) to offer prayers to the rising sun, signifying the grand conclusion of the four-day Chhath Puja celebrations.
In Patna, worshippers assembled along the banks of the Ganga and other nearby water bodies at dawn to perform the sacred ritual of Usha Arghya, offering their gratitude to the Sun God for health, prosperity, and well-being.
Thousands of devotees crowded the ghats across the city, immersing themselves in devotion and tradition as they celebrated Bihar’s most significant festival, Chhath Puja.
To ensure smooth and safe celebrations, the Patna district administration implemented extensive security and safety measures at over 100 ghats along the river. Officials stated that arrangements were made to prevent any mishaps and to manage the massive influx of devotees efficiently.
Additionally, several medical camps were set up at prominent ghats to provide emergency aid and assistance to devotees throughout the rituals.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also participated in the Chhath Puja ceremonies on Tuesday morning at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, where he performed the rituals with his family.
The festival was celebrated with equal enthusiasm at the residences of various political leaders and citizens across Patna, reflecting the shared cultural and spiritual spirit of the occasion.
The four-day festival commenced on October 25 with the traditional Nahai Khai ritual, which marks the beginning of the Chhath Puja observance. Celebrated on the sixth day of Kartik Shukla, this ancient festival takes place six days after Diwali, honoring the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for sustaining life on earth and granting prosperity and purity.
